Taichung has be honoured as “Most Wanted Livable City”, and has won the first place for the past five years. Taichung City enjoys the convenience of transportation and location, offers unique living environment, houses an enormous hinterland for future development and locates at a favorable location. Furthermore, Mayor Lin, Chia-Lung has been promoting several policies centered around building a livable city since he took office. Therefore, Taichung is attracting new residents and it helps fill the labor market like a big magnet.

Population broke the 2.777 million mark in August 2017 and made Taichung the second largest city in Taiwan by population. Various public works and benefits policies have been executed one after another. New immigrants from other cities were attracted to invest their talents in Taichung. Laboring population increased from last year and reached 1.47 million in 2022, or 52.6% of the total population of the city. In general, labor force in Taichung increases every year, indicating that Taichung is a city with abundant human resources.

Labor force participation rate in 2022 was 61%. In addition, Taichung’s employment rate is as high as 96%, showing that people are willing to participate in labor market.

The uptrend and the improvement of labor force quality indicate that Taichung hosts enough human resources to support various industries.
